Data 360 (a month)

Data 360 draws on the same credits, with cheaper volume tiers after 300k, 1.5M and 12.5M credits per usage type each month. Most agent projects use some Prep, Unification and Queries; skip this if you don't use Data 360.

Outside agents calling Salesforce (Headless 360)

Salesforce will meter successful MCP and API calls by registered agents as Headless Platform Interactions, in production orgs only, with 30 days' notice. Ordinary API integrations aren't affected. The multiplier is still “TBA” on the rate card, so this is a what-if.

How the maths works

1. Credits per conversation. Each action an agent takes and each prompt template it runs uses a fixed number of Flex Credits, set by usage type on Salesforce's rate card. Actions dominate: a typical agent spends 20 credits per step and only 2-16 per prompt.

2. Credits to money. Flex Credits list at $500 per 100,000 (£400, €500, A$700), so one credit is $0.005 at US list. Your discount, if any, comes off that.

3. What to buy. Monthly credits × 12, minus what your edition already includes (500,000 for Core, 1,000,000 for Advanced, 2,750,000 for Max, per org per year), plus a safety buffer, rounded up to 100k packs. Unused credits expire at your order end date. Going over isn't penalised: Salesforce bills extra usage at your contracted rate, monthly in arrears.

4. The other ways to pay. $2 per conversation for customer-facing agents (not in the same org as Flex Credits); $2 per Help Agent resolution; $125 per user per month for the unmetered Sales, Service, Field Service and Operations add-ons ($150 for Industries); and the $5 Agentforce User License, whose usage is metered on Flex Credits.

5. The return. People time today (volume × minutes by hand) minus the time still spent on cases the agent hands over, valued at your hourly cost, minus the credits. It's only as good as your minutes and resolution rate, so start with honest numbers from a pilot.

Not included: Data 360 storage and licences, implementation, Salesforce licences you already pay for, taxes, and the Headless Platform Interaction rate until Salesforce publishes it.

Questions people ask

How much does Agentforce cost per action?
At list price, a standard or custom Agentforce action uses 20 Flex Credits in production. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000, so an action is $0.10. A voice action uses 30 credits ($0.15). In sandboxes the rates are 16 and 24 credits. Negotiated discounts and included credits change your real rate.
How do I estimate Agentforce cost per conversation?
Count the actions an agent takes in a typical conversation (looking up a record, updating a case, replying) and any prompt templates it runs, multiply by their credit rates, then by $0.005 per credit. A four-action conversation with one basic prompt is 82 credits, about $0.41. Then divide by the share of conversations the agent actually finishes to get the cost per resolved conversation.
Is $2 per conversation cheaper than Flex Credits?
Usually not, for typical agents: a conversation needs more than 20 actions before Flex Credits cost more than $2. But the choice is per org, not per agent, because Salesforce says Flex Credits and Conversations can't run in the same org. The calculator compares whole-org setups for that reason.
What is the $2 per resolution price?
It's the Help Agent resolution rate: 400 Flex Credits ($2) per interaction Salesforce's Help Agent resolves, with no charge in sandboxes. It applies to Help Agent, not to every service agent, so check how your contract defines a resolution.
Do unused Flex Credits roll over?
No. Salesforce's rate card says Flex Credits must be used before the Order End Date on your order form, with no rollover. That's why the calculator adds a safety buffer instead of rounding far up, and why it subtracts the credits your edition already includes.
Will Salesforce charge for agents calling its APIs?
Salesforce plans to meter successful MCP and API calls made by registered agents as Headless Platform Interactions, in production orgs only, with 30 days' notice before metering starts. Ordinary API integrations aren't affected. The multiplier is still listed as TBA, so the calculator treats it as a what-if you can set yourself.
