Salesforce Field Service Voice to Form: Audit First
Salesforce Field Service Voice to Form, Guided Experience and headless setup put AI on the technician's phone. Audit your data capture first.

Key takeaways
- Salesforce's 20 October 2026 post bundles Guided Experience, headless setup and Voice to Form into one pitch: AI agents working on the technician's phone, not just in the back office.
- Voice to Form speeds up data capture, but it can't fix a badly designed form. It captures the mess faster.
- Guided Experience can hide questions, so someone has to own which safety and compliance steps can never disappear.
- Audit your mobile forms and work-order flows now, before any agent depends on the data they produce.
On 20 October 2026, Salesforce published Reinventing Mobile Work: Guided Experience, Headless Setup, and Voice to Form, a post by Kevin Ota about the technician's whole day on Field Service Mobile. It pairs two statistics with three features. Workers estimate that 18% of their hours, over 7 hours a week, go on admin, and 43% of surveyed organisations still use paper logs in the field.
If you run field operations, this matters because Salesforce Field Service Voice to Form and its siblings turn the technician's phone into an agent surface. I've read the opening of the post plus the related Trailhead and AgentExchange material. I haven't tested any of it in a live org.
What Salesforce announced for Field Service Voice to Form and mobile work
Three features, one direction: the agent meets the technician where the work happens.
Guided Experience gives technicians turn-by-turn direction through a job. According to Salesforce, it adapts as conditions change, surfacing the steps and questions that matter and hiding the ones that don't.
Voice to Form lets technicians fill forms hands-free. Salesforce's AgentExchange setup skill (beta) describes two variants: voice-filling any record-edit screen, and voice-filling Data Capture forms built on the Discovery Framework (the Data Capture variant is in beta).
Headless setup is the quiet one. A Trailhead module shows Agentforce Field Service being configured through a conversation, with the setup plan rendered in Slack and other AI surfaces.
Voice to Form itself isn't new. Salesforce wrote about it on 17 November 2025. What's new is the framing: set up by conversation, guided by an agent, filled by voice.
Why Salesforce Field Service Voice to Form is a data problem before an AI problem
An agent is only as reliable as the work-order data underneath it, and the technician's form is where that data is born.
Anything an agent does next depends on the job record, and none of that works if the record is vague.
Voice makes capture easier, so you'll get more of it. If your form has free-text fields where you need a picklist, or three fields that mean the same thing, you'll now collect that ambiguity at speed.
My take: The first win from Voice to Form is hours saved. The second-order win only comes if the form was good before you added a microphone. Audit the form, then add the voice.
The second-order effects nobody has priced in
Once agents read what technicians say, form design becomes a governance decision.
Here's what I'd watch, and each of these is my judgement rather than anything Salesforce has claimed:
- Hidden steps. If Guided Experience hides questions, someone must decide which safety, warranty and compliance checks can never be skipped, whatever the technician marks as urgent.
- Voice as personal data. Spoken notes can include customer names, addresses and offhand remarks. In India, the DPDP Act applies, so know what's stored, where and for how long.
- Conversational setup drift. Configuring by chat is fast. It's also easy to change things nobody reviewed. Keep a written approval step for every setup plan.
- Cost. Salesforce hasn't published metering details for these mobile features, so ask your account team. My Agentforce pricing explainer covers the basics.
- People. Admins stop building screens and start designing data. Technicians become reviewers of what the agent captured, not typists.
My take: The headline isn't "technicians can talk to their phones". It's that the work order is now an agent's input. Treat it like production data, because it is.
What to do before an agent depends on your work orders
Pick one boring, frequent, low-risk form and prove it before widening the scope.
That's the same advice I give for where to start with AI: a rule-based, digital task, a human approving, and measured hours saved. A short job description for the agent helps too, as in my plain-English guide to Agentforce.
For example, a solar maintenance company might start with the end-of-visit inspection form: ten fields, same every time, easy to check against the photo evidence.
Try this week:
- List every mobile form and work-order screen your technicians use, and note which still run on paper or free text.
- Mark the steps that must never be hidden by an adaptive flow, and get a named owner to sign them off.
- Pilot voice capture on one low-risk form with read-only review by a supervisor.
- Ask Salesforce or your partner how Voice to Form, Guided Experience and headless setup will be priced and metered.

Frequently asked questions
What is Salesforce Field Service Voice to Form?
It's a Field Service Mobile feature that lets technicians fill in forms by speaking. Salesforce describes two variants: voice-filling any record-edit screen, and voice-filling Data Capture forms (in beta).
What is Guided Experience in Salesforce Field Service?
According to Salesforce's 20 October 2026 post, it's a consumer-grade interface that walks technicians through a job step by step. It adapts as conditions change, showing the questions that matter and hiding the ones that don't.
Do I need Agentforce to use these features?
Licensing isn't spelled out in the launch material, so check entitlements with Salesforce before you plan a rollout. Salesforce describes headless setup as turning a paper form or Mobile Flow into a digital form by photographing it.
